Everything I looked at pointed to sustainability in one form or another. It wasn’t long before I had enrolled in further education to re-skill into the emerging field of sustainability, focusing on the built environment. We all have homes. Generally speaking they could be more comfortable, run more efficiently and have lower impacts on the environment. This is something we all can do, something that will make a difference, something that really matters. So for my son’s future, for all the children and for their children, I chose to work in the sustainability industry.
Many homes can be likened to a toxic soup that inevitably spills into the environment in the form of household waste. Asking questions and demanding information about products before buying will encourage suppliers to seek this information from manufacturers, inevitably inducing changes to labelling (retailers will tire of having to chase details for buyers) and allow us all to make informed decisions. In the following pages we provide you with tools to be able to navigate products in an informed manner.
