The word Reiki means Universal Life-Force Energy. Reiki is the channeling of energy to someone for the purpose of healing. A Reiki practitioner will place their hands on the person requesting the healing and be a channel for the energy to pass through to a person for their greatest good. Both Ron and I took the basic and advanced training in Reiki, and during one of the classes, the teacher had asked if we would do Reiki on some individuals who had asked for this particular method of healing. We all agreed, and a group of three of us were assigned 52 ___________________________Carol A.

She was a soft-spoken woman, and I felt very much at ease with her. She offered us some tea and then told us she would be going into a deep meditative state to seek the advice of a higher spiritual power. We could ask our questions, and she would relay to us what was being communicated to her. Our first question was why this happened and was there anything we could have done to prevent Sharon’s accident. She told us this was part of a Divine Plan. There wasn’t anything we could have done to prevent it, and it was part of our own spiritual growth.

The shunt that had been placed at the time of her initial surgery was infected. The neurosurgeon suggested redoing the shunt to expose it, and then they would be able to give antibiotics directly into the brain. The surgery was scheduled for October 19. Again, we waited and prayed that she would survive yet another surgery. Ron and I entered Sharon’s room after the surgery to find one side of her head completely bald with tubes going into the side of her head delivering the antibiotic directly to her brain.
