When I got there, my heart quickened again, pulsating hard. In contrast, my breathing slowed, shallow, my throat constricted. The smell of basil filled my nose. It was though I was in his shoes. Geoff paused again. I could see that he planned to frustrate Melnar a little more. I was certain that Geoff knew instinctively that Melnar wasn’t the murderer, but you could tell that he thought the sleezebag was involved in some way and he seemed determined to find out what it was.
