The Bride Hunt by Margo Maguire

By Margo Maguire

I hugely suggest this tale. the 2 lead characters are nice, Sir Anvrai is a superb hero, and woman Isabel is especially fascinating and never the standard helpless lady. i might prefer to learn extra of them and was once sorry whilst the booklet ended! i'm going to certainly get the subsequent e-book approximately what occurred to Isabel's sister.
The Bride Hunt (the name is a piece unusual for the tale) is quick studying (I learn it in a pair hours-very infrequent for me!) and whole of experience, romance, and is extremely pleasing! i will be interpreting extra of Ms. Maguires' tales! nice book!

(As it seems, this used to be the easiest of Ms Maguires books that I learn, I learn four extra and none of them may carry carry a candle to this booklet)

She’d scraped her skin raw straining against her bonds and knew that was not the way to escape. An ominous hush came over the enclosure, and Isabel’s hands stilled as she listened to the silence. None of the villagers spoke as her redbearded captor came into sight. Isabel rose up to her knees and watched him approach with THE BRIDE HUNT 25 another man, dark-haired and intense. The two kept their eyes upon her as they walked, and their blatant scrutiny made Isabel’s skin crawl. The second man was bearded like her captor, but older, with unkempt hair as dark as a sorcerer’s well and piercing black eyes that seemed to strip her bare.

Yet it no longer mattered. ’Twas unlikely she and Roger would ever return to Kettwyck unless one of them concocted a successful plan for escape. If she were safe at home, sitting before Kettwyck’s enormous hearth and regaling her family with a tale of Scottish raids and the capture of a Norman maiden, how would the story 24 MARGO MAGUIRE progress? Handsome Roger would certainly be her hero, rescuing her from the terrible fate that awaited her. But when she looked toward her young knight, she knew that was an unlikely end to this tale.

Surely her father had intended to protect her from any mishap, yet he’d failed. ’Twas even possible he’d lost his life in the attack upon Kettwyck. She could not think of such horrors. ’Twould 45 46 MARGO MAGUIRE take all her efforts just to survive the coming night. “He fell,” she said softly to herself, as if seeking some new explanation for what had happened. “After I stabbed him, the chieftain staggered back and fell. He knocked over a lamp, and it caught fire . ” Sir Anvrai continued rowing, as if he had not heard.
